Today I read that the Kansas Bord of Edjamacation voted to demphasize the teaching of evolution and emphasize the teaching of alternative theories. According to the media report, this decision was heralded by the conservative Christians on the board who claim that evolution is a "largely unproven" theory...as opposed to intelligent design, which I understand is very proven (when one discards logic and rational thought).
This makes the Kansas board take this week's Total Bonehead award and makes the educational system of Kansas more fodder for the laughter of the world's scientific community.
When American students are suffering from a lack of science education why is it that their parents are refusing them what little they were getting? I'm guessing that stupidity is the primary reason.
